Muthuvel Muthu is an Indian actor, singer and politician. He appeared in Tamil films.
Background
Muthu was born on August 24, 1948 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India; the son of Muthuvel Karunanidhi Padmavathi Ammal.
Career
Muthu began his career as an actor in 1970 and worked predominantly in Tamil movie industry. He appeared in films such as "Pillaiyo Pillai", 1970,
"Pookkari", 1973, "Samayalkkaran", 1974, "Anaya Vilakku", 1975, "Nambikai Natchathiram", 1975, "Ingeyum Manithargal", 1975, "Ellam Avale", 1977 and "Thiruttu Rajakkal", 1984. Muthu also sang a few songs in Tamil films. However, he could not succeed in the acting career. His failure in cinema made him a drug and liquor addict and he suffered a lot from lung-related medical issues.
In 2008, he sang a folk song for the film "Mattuthavani" under music director Deva. He is now spending his days in extreme financial troubles and was admitted as a patient in a Government Hospital in October 2015. Karunanidhi family and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party continues to neglect his, because he was once introduced in Kollywood by Karunanidhi himself to match MGR’s popularity.
