Background
Friederike Migneco is the daughter of an Italian father and a German mother. After primary school and secondary school in the European School in Luxembourg and in Catania, she studied from 1981 to 1987 at the University La Sapienza in Rome German and Italian literature, Japanese Studies, Far Eastern philosophies and comparative religion. Between 1983 and 1985 she graduated at the Istituto di Studi per il Medio e Estremo Orientein Rome in history and cultures of the Far E. Migneco lived a long time in Japan, Italy and Switzerland. Since the 1980s, she is a freelance translator. In 1989 she worked for the Italian Parliament. Since 1995 she lives in Luxemburg, where she works as a writer and translator. In 1998 she became the head of the Bibliothèque publique in Dudelange. Friederike Migneco was from 2002 on the editorial board of the Luxembourg cultural magazine Forum. Together with Volker Zotz she founded 2001 the publishing house Kairos Edition in Luxemburg.
