In 1917 worked in the War Ministry. Continued to serve the new government after the Bolshevik take-over. Secretly organized transport for all officers who volunteered to serve in the White armies in the South.
In 1919 he himself left to join Denikin’s forces, and served with the Whites until the end of the Civil War in the Crimea. Evacuated and settled in France. Became chairman of ROVS (the organization of White veterans of the Civil War), 1938.
