Arsen'ev, Vladimir was born on September 10, 1872 in Petersburg.
From 1902 till mid-1920s almost continually engaged in exploring the Russian Far East (the Ussuri river, Kamchatka and the Commodore Islands). Became the leading authority in the world on this region. Taught in schools in the Soviet Far East.
