  • Career

    • Became well-known as a novelist before World War I. Emigrated to Germany, 1921. Returned to the Soviet Union, 1929. Wrote novels on the heroism of the Civil War and the October Revolution.

      After World War II arrested and shot together with a group of Jewish writers and poets, including Kvitko, Markish and others, during Stalin’s anti-Semitic campaign.
