    • Graduated from Moscow University.

    Career

    • Became known in modernist literary groups during the revolutionary years (Opoiaz, LEF, Novyi LEF). Became a close friend of Mayakovsky, formed a famous menage a trois, when his wife Lilia Brik became Mayakovsky’s lover. Wrote together with Mayakovsky the plays Radio Oktiabr and Moskva gorit.

      Edited with Mayakovsky the newspaper Iskusstvo kommuny, 1918. An active literary theoretician of the 1920s. Wrote the script for the famous Pudovkin film Poiomok Chingiz Khana, 1928.
