      Member of the Central Committee of the Armenian CP, 1966-1972. 1st Secretary of the Central Committee of the Armenian CP, 1974. Trade

      Minister of the Armenian Republic till April 1986.

      Replaced as first secretary of Central Committee of the Armenian CP after the ethnic unrest in Armenia, May 1988.
