  • Dukelskii, Vladimir was born on October 10, 1903 in the village of Parfianovka near Pskov.

  • Education

    • Studied at the Kiev Conservatory under R.Glier.

    Career

    • Moved to France, 1920, and to the USA in 1929. Wrote his first music for L. Miasin’s ballet Zefir i Flora (Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, Monte Carlo, 1925). Strongly influenced by American jazz and music hall.

      Worked for Leonid Miasin and George Balanchine. Became a very successful composer in the USA.
