Efremov, Oleg was born on October 1, 1927.
Graduated in 1949 from the Moscow Arts Theatre Drama Studio.
Outstanding actor and one of the most talented modern stage directors. Actor at the Central Children’s Theatre. In 1956, one of the founders, and later head, of the most revolutionary theatre in Moscow, Sovremennik.
Artistic director of the Moscow Arts Theatre. Very popular film actor, best in comedies. First film in 1956. Worked with every director of note.
His cameo roles were an asset to every film. Played the officer Dolokhov in War And Peace. Became famous as Aibolit in Roland Bykov’s film of the same title.
Gave master classes in Oxford, 1987 and to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford.
