Ekaterina Furtseva, USSR Politician.
Furtseva, Ekaterina was born in 1910 in Vyshnii Volochek near Tver’. Daughter of a worker.
Started work in a textile factory. Active member of the Komsomol from 1924. High administrative posts in the Komsomol, 1930-1937.
Political work in several technical schools where she studied civil aviation and chemical technology. During World War I I, Secretary of the Frunze Party raikom in Moscow. Second Secretary of the Moscow City Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, 1950, 1st Secretary, 1954.
Elected member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, 1956, appointed Secretary of the Central Committee by Khrushchev, to whom she was close. During Khrushchev’s rule, autocratic Minister of Culture of the USSR. Lost importance after his removal.
