    • In 1922, joined the Meyerhold Theatre. Popular comedian. After the closure of the Meyerhold Theatre and his arrest, moved to Leningrad and joined the Comedy Theatre. His first film role was in PoruchikKizhe, 1934.

      Became famous for his roles in adaptations of N. Gogol. Made many films, mainly adaptations of Russian classical writers.
