    Career

    • Received private ballet training from N. Domashev. From 1907, studied at the Petersburg Theatre School under Mikhail Fokin. Dancer at the Mariinskii Theatre.

      From 1910, with the Bolshoi Theatre. Took part in the ballet experiments of M. Fokin and A. Gorskii. From 1916, choreographer with the Mamontov Theatre of Miniatures and the Letuchaia Mysh Theatre.

      Left the Bolshoi, 1918. Organized his own studio school, the Children’s Ballet. Head of the studio until 1925, when he rejoined the Bolshoi Theatre.

      From the mid-1930s, with provincial theatres in Khar’kov, Minsk, Lvov and Dushanbe.
