Golubinov, Sergei was born in 1903 in Bukhara. Son of a diplomat.
Educated at a French lycee. Graduated as an engineer.
Emigrated with his parents during the Civil War. Settled in France. Worked in the Congo, where he met his French wife. Together under the pen-name Golon they started to write a series of romantic historical novels, Angelica, set at the time of the Roi Soleil (Louis XIV).
The series had phenomenal success: 75 million copies were published and the series was translated into 25 languages.
