Eugen Kapp, USSR Composer.
Kapp, Eugen was born on May 26, 1908 in Astrakhan’.
Graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory, 1933.
Son and pupil of the Estonian composer Artur Kapp. Gave music lessons till 1935. Taught at the conservatory from 1935.
Composed for the theatre. Conductor and composer with the Estonian Singing Ensemble in Iaroslavl’ during W WII. Chairman of the Board of the Union of Estonian Composers, 1944. Professor of composition from 1947.
Director of the Tallinn Conservatory, 1952-1965. Wrote operas, cantatas, sonatas and other genres, also music for the plays of Shakespeare, Schiller, Goldoni and others.
