  • Klychkov, Sergei was born on July 13, 1889 in the village of Dubrovki near Tver’. Son of a shoemaker.

  • Career

    • Before World War I, became known as one of the talented peasant poets, along with Kliuev and Esenin. In the 1920s, became a well-known prose writer. Used folklore (fairy tale) stylistic methods and created a highly original fantastic world connected with rural Russia.

      Arrested, 1937, victim of the Gulag.
