Sergei Vasil’evich Kozlovskii
Sergei Kozlovskii, USSR Stage designer.
Kozlovskii, Sergei was born on April 3, 1885.
Studied at the Odessa Art School.
In the Ukrainian theatre from 1903. Entered the film industry, 1913. Among his best silent films are: Polikushka, Aelita, Papirosnitsa Ot Mossel’proma, Mat’, Sorok Pervyi, Potselui Meri Pikford, Konets Sankt Peterburga, Potomok Chingiz Khana and Prazdnik Sviatogo Iorgena.
Worked closely with V. Pudovkin. His sound films include: Dezertir, Okraina, and Marionetki. Taught at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography from 1924.
Regarded as a major stage designer of the Russian silent cinema.
