Limonov, Eduard was born in 1943 in Dzerzhinsk.
Moved with his family to Khar’kov. Member of an unofficial group of artists and writers. His works circulated in samizdat.
Left the USSR with his wife, the model Elena Shchapova, in 1974(she later divorced him). Moved to the USA in 1975, and then to France. Became famous for his novel, Eto la, Edichka (New York, 1979), also for his unconventional views.
Provoked several literary scandals in the Russian emigre press. Other books: Dnevnik Neudachnika, New York, 1982, and Podroslok Savenko, France, 1983.
