  • Education

    • Studied at the Tbilisi Conservatory, 1931-1936. Pupil of S. Barkhudarian. Pupil of P. Riazanov.

    Career

    • Postgraduate course, 1937-1939. Taught at the Tbilisi Conservatory from 1939. Assistant of A. Balanchivadze, 1942.

      Lecturer from 1952. Professor of Composition from 1963. Director of the Teatr Muzykalnoi Komedii from 1934. Concurrently worked as composer with the Baku Experimental Theatre.

      Artistic director of the State Symphony Orchestra of Georgia, 1956-1958. Took part in an expedition to collect Georgian musical folklore. From 1956, secretary, and from 1962, chairman of the Board of the Union of Georgian Composers.
