Valentin Iakovlevich Moroz
Valentin Moroz, Ukrainian nationalist
Moroz, Valentin was born in 1936 in Western Ukraine.
Graduated in history from L’vov University.
Komsomol member. Worked as a teacher. Protested against the destruction of folk culture in Western Ukraine. Arrested, 1965. Sentenced to 4 years in the Gulag.
1969. Wrote verse and articles, which circulated in samizdat. Re-arrested,
1970. After his release, emigrated to the West. Active in Ukrainian nationalist organizations abroad.
His memoirs of his life in the camps, Reportazh iz Zapovednika Imeni Berta is the most sucessful of his works.
