  • Obukhov, Nikolai was born on April 22, 1892 in Moscow.

  • Education

    • Studied at the Petersburg Conservatory, 1911.


    • Emigrated, 1919. Main composition: an oratorio, Kniga Zhizni, performed partly in 1926 in Paris. Conceived the idea for an electric instrument, the ‘croix sonore’. Often signed his compositions ‘Nicolas l’lllumine.’ After his death, the Obukhov Prize was set up for an innovative composer.
