Nikolai Avdeevich Otsup

Nikolai Otsup, USSR Poet.


  • Otsup, Nikolai was born in 1894 in Petersburg.

  • Education

    • Graduated from the Odessa Theatre Institute, and the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography.


    • Became known as a poet before World War I. Close to Nikolai Gumilev. Emigrated after the Bolshevik take-over 1917. Settled in Paris. Editor of the magazine Chisla, 1930-1934.

      First film, 1965. Made two important films — Kamennyi Krest, 1968, and Zakhar Berkut, 1972, which received a prize at the Venice Film Festival.
