    • Graduated from Petersburg University, 1882.


    • Academician, 1920. Wrote many historical works, especially on the times of Ivan the Terrible and the Time of Troubles. Refused to take part in the communist distortions of history. Arrested, 1930.

    The role of the individual as a member of a collective is more important than the individual.
