  • Pokrass, Dimitrii was born on November 7, 1899 in Kiev.

  • Education

    • Studied at the Petrograd Conservatory, 1913-1917.


    • Appeared in concerts. Joined the Red Cavalry, 1919. Wrote the music for Marsh Budennogo, 1920.

      Conductor and musical director with various Moscow theatres, 1923-1926. Directed the Variety Stage Orchestra at the Railway Centre of Culture, 1936-1972. Produced most of his songs between 1930-1950 in collaboration with his brother Daniil Pokrass.
