    • In 1905, deputy military attache in London. Major-general, May 1917. Replaced Kornilov as commander of the Petrograd military district, 1917.

      Conducted the search for Lenin and Zinov’ev after the communist rebellion in July 1917. Later worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Government. Emigrated after the Bolshevik take-over.

      Settled in Monaco.
