Erkegali Rakhmadievich Rakhmadiev
Erkegali Rakhmadiev, USSR Composer.
Rakhmadiev, Erkegali was born on August 1, 1932 in the Semipalatinskaia Oblast’. Son of the well-known folk singer R. Zhabykbaev.
Studied at the Tchaikovskii Music School in Alma-Ata in the department of folk instruments and theory of historic music. Pupil of E. Bursilovskii.
Entered the Alma-Ata Conservatory, 1952. Graduated,
1956. Followed the specialized course of G. Litinskii in Moscow, 1957-1958. Artistic director of the Kazakh Philharmonic Orchestra from 1959.
Chief administrator of the Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Kazakh SSR, 1961-1965.
Director of the Kazakh Opera and Ballet, 1966, of the Folklore Office from 1958, and of the Alma-Ata Conservatory, 1967-1975. Lecturer from 1968, and professor from 1979. Composed mainly operas.
