Evgenii Rubenovich Simonov
Evgenii Simonov, USSR Stage director.
Simonov, Evgenii was born on June 21, 1925 in Moscow. Son of the famous director Ruben Simonov.
In 1947, graduated from the Moscow Shchukin Theatre School where his father was professor. Assistant director, later director, and from 1969 chief director, at the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow, where his father had reigned for 20 years. Staged contemporary Soviet plays as well as Russian classical works and some foreign dramas.
His own plays include Aleksei Berezhnoi (1962, Vakhtangov Theatre), and John Reed (1967, Malyi Theatre).
