Joined the Red Army, 1919. Took part in the Civil War as an artillery officer. Joined the Air Force, 1927.
Commander of a regiment, and later a division, 1938-1940. Commmander of the Strategic Bombers Corps, 1940. During World War II and afterwards, held command positions in bomber and transport detachments of the Air Force.
Member of the Central Revision Commission of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union,
1961-1966.
