    Career

    • Soloist with the Moscow Private Opera, 1901-1904, and with the Zimin Opera Theatre, Moscow, 1905-1916. Founder of the Opera Theatre in Saratov, 1917, and of an opera group in Rostov-on-Don, 1920. Taught at the Saratov, Rostov and Baku conservatories, and at the Moscow Conservatory from 1932.

      From 1939, professor at the Moscow Conservatory. Taught at the Gnesin Music Pedagogical Institute, 1946-1951. Trained a generation of singers including R. Mamedov (Biul’-BiuF).
