    • From 1924, actor with MKHAT. Became known for his classical roles. Played nearly all the Russian and foreign classics. In 1934, a stage director, combining acting and teaching at the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio.

      Also in many films. 4 times State Prize winner (1947, 1949, 1951, 1952). K. Stanislavskii’s Prize in 1974.
