  • Tigranian, Nikogaios was born on August 31, 1856 in Aleksandropol’ (now Leninakan).

  • Career

    • Went blind at the age of 9. Travelled widely all along the Caucasus, in Russia, and in Western Europe collecting folklore. Appeared as a pianist in Europe.

      One of the biggest collectors of Armenian, Georgian, Kurdish and Iranian folk songs. Made use of these folk motives in his own music.
