    • First film in 1948. Actor of the Film Actor’s Theatre Studio in Moscow. Popular film actor in the 1960s. Played mainly soldiers and sailors until he was discovered by Sergei Bondarchuk.

      Became a star in the Soviet Union for his role of Prince Andrei Bolkonskii in War and Peace, 1967. Played the leading part in the TV soap opera Semnadtsat' Mgnovenii Vesny, 1973. State Prize, 1976. Married the equally famous actress Nonna Mordiukova.

      Films include: Maksimka, 1953, It Happened in Pen'kovo, 1958, Midshipsman Panin, 1960, An Optimistic Tragedy, 1963, Egor Bulychev And Others, 1973, They Fought For Their Country, 1975.
