    Career

    • Joined the Communist Party, 1931. Head of a department at the 1st Medical Institute, Leningrad, from 1950. At the same time, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Pulmonology, 1967-1972.

      Academician, 1967. Recipient of the Lenin Prize for developing surgical methods for the treatment of lung diseases, 1961. In 1987, took part in Gorbachev’s antialcoholism campaign.

    Religion

    Religion is bad because it obstructs scientific research.

    Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
