Background

  • Vil’tzak, Anatolii was born in 1896 in Petersburg. Brother of the circus artist N.I. Vil’tzak, and husband of the ballerina Liudmila Shollar.

  • Education

    • Graduated from the Petersburg Theatre School, 1915.

    Career

    • Dancer with the Mariinskii Theatre. Emigrated, 1921. With Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes, 1921-1925, and later with Ida Rubenstein’s Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, and the American Ballet. Worked closely with Bronislava Nijinskaia.

      Taught at various American ballet schools.
