  • Vinogradskii, Sergei was born on September 13, 1856 in Kiev.

  • Education

    • Graduated from Petersburg University, 1881.


    • Founder and chairman of the Russian Microbiology Society, 1903. Emigrated after the Bolshevik take-over, 1922. Head of the Agrobiology Department of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, 1922-1953.

      Member of the French Academy of Sciences and fellow of the Royal Society.


    Religion is bad because it stops people thinking in a rational and objective way.


    Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
