    Career

    • Organized and conducted symphonic concerts in Moscow from 1903, and later in Petersburg. Teacher of S. Rakhmaninov. Appointed head of the (former) Imperial Theatres after the 1917 Revolution, but soon dismissed by Lunacharskii.

      Emigrated, 1919. Taught music in New York, 1924-1942.
