      Was engaged in developing the manufacturing interest in Southern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee, until 1861.

    Career

    • Served in C.S.A. in 14th Tennessee regiment, beginning as private. Promoted adjunct August, 1861. Major, March, 1862; Lieutenant-colonel, August, 1862.

      Colonel, September, 1862. Was wounded at Sharpsburg (Antietam), Maryland., September 17, 1862. And at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 3, 1863.

      Promoted brig.-general, December, 1864. Democrat. Address: Gordonsville, Virginia.
