    • At 16 went into lumber business with his father, at 18 began merchandising. In oil business in Pennsylvania, 1870-1882. Then in mining and cattle business in Arizona.

      Owned, developed and sold several mines at Tombstone. In cattle business from 1884, operating in Sonora, Mexico, and Arizona. Became president First National Bank, Douglas, Arizona, 1907 (Chairman of the Board and president).
