He graduated from Yale School of Architecture in 1949. Dart also studied at Yale under Pietro Belluschi, Marcel Breuer, Richard Neutra, Louis Kahn, Eero Saarinen, Harold Spitznagel, and Paul Schweikher.
Richard M. Bennett was chairman of the Department of Architecture as well as a professor of design during Dart"s studies. One of Chicago"s most distinguished architects, he was made a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects at age 44 and garnered 18 American Institute of Architects awards. He designed 52 custom houses from 1949 to 1968, 26 custom churches, and many commercial buildings.
Dart died of an aneurysm in 1975 while completing Water Tower Place.
