    • Studied law in office Oscar F. Moore. Admitted to bar, 1865, never practiced. Bought interest in private banking firm which became Kinney & Chapman, 1863.

      Established banking house in Jackson, O., 1865, which became 1st National Bank in 1870, since served as president. Engaged in iron and coal business in Jackson County, 25 years. President Chapman Coal Company.

      Director Glove Iron Company (Jackson, O.), Chapman Mining Company (Moxohala, O.). First lieutenant of Portsmouth (O.) City Troop, 1861-1865. Democratic nominee for government Ohio, 1897.

      Delegate nat. convention Kansas City, 1900.
