    • Established banking house Maklot & Corbin, Davenport, Iowa, 1854 (only banking house in Davenport to pass through panic of 1857). Organizer 1st National Bank of Davenport, 1863 (the 1st nat. bank to open for business in the United States). Developer Manhattan Beach Railway to Coney Island.

      Reorganizer Long Island R.R. President Philadelphia & Reading R.R., Philadelphia & Reading Coal & Iron Company. Projected trans-Atlantic S.S. line from Fort Pond Bay (Long Island, New York) to Europe.
