Justice Criminal Court of Appeals, Texas, by appointment to fill unexpired term, January-November 1908, and elected for term of 4 years.

      Resigned 1911, to fill appointment as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, resigned, March 1912, to make campaign for Democratic nomination at primaries for government of Texas. Resumed practice at Austin, October 1912. Chairman of the Board and federal reserve agent Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, January 15, 1916.
