    • Began as teller in home bank, Catlettsburg, Kentucky, 1875. Organized a number of successful banks in the South and the Middle West. Retired bank president but retained an active interest in the development of banks.

      A leader in building up the business portion of Gary, Indiana. Extensive travels in Europe, Asia, Africa, 1907-1908, Australia and New Zealand, 1916, South America, 1922, South Africa, 1923. Has devoted much time to social betterment of steel workers, improvement of edln. system, beautifying towns and cities.
