Unmarried. Organizer of the “dollar savings bank plan” among poor boys of Vincennes. Financed the Gimbel Expedition to South. America, 1910, headed by Doctor Max M. Ellis, of University of Colorado, to explore rivers of British Guiana, and especially to study the life habits of the Gymnotids.
Resulted in the discovery of numerous rare forms, among them Porotergus Gimbeli.
