    • Admitted to New York bar, 1915, and began practice in New York City. Appointed special assistant to American ambassador to Russia, and as such administered relief funds in Kursk and Voronezh, 1916-1917, and directed American publicity in Moscow and Archangel, 1918-1919. Executive director Common Council for American Unity and its successor organization, American Council Nationalities Service, 1922-1966, Chairman of the Board, 1966-1969, chairman nat. committee, from 1969.
