Began agitation, 1893, which resulted in establishing, 1894, of 1st school in the United States for instructor in technical of clay, glass and cement industries, of which was director until 1916. Dean College Engineering Ohio State University, 1902-1906 and 1910-1916.
Retired from university work, 1917. State geologist of Ohio, 1899-1906. Commissioned major, O.R.C., January 5, 1917.
