      Assistant engineer American Hoist & Derrick Company, St. Paul, Minnesota, 1903-1904. Engineer of tests, Kerr Turbine Company, Wellsville, New York, 1904-1906. Associate professor and professor railway engineering, University of Illinois, July 1, 1906-April 12, 1919.

      Commissioned major, Ordnance Department United States Army, August 11, 1917. Served in New York District Ordnance Office, and on detached service in the United States Fuel Administration and United States R.R. Administration. Discharged, July 16, 1919.

      Mech. engineer North American Company, New York, 1919-1921. Professor railway engineering and head of department, University of Illinois, 1921-1940, professor railway engineering emeritus since September 1, 1940.
