    • In railway work in Ohio and West Virginia, 1882-1883. Superintendent water works, Burlington, Vermont, 1883-1884. On topographic work in Virginia, 1884-1885.

      With Western Electric Company, New York and Chicago, 1885-1887, and laid cables from Nantucket to mainland and from Cape Charles to Cape Henry for signal corps, etc. Chief engineer for Pomona Land & Water Company, California, 1887. Laid government cable across mouth of Columbia River for Western Electric Company, 1888.

      Assistant professor civil engineering, 1890-1892, professor electrical engineering, 1892-1899, University of Vermont. Also acting as consultant electrical and hydraulic engineer on electrical plants in Vermont. In summer of 1893 did instrumental work on survey of St. Lawrence River under United States Engineer Corps.

      In 1897 on construction work on sea coast fortifications, including electrical installations, and during summer of 1898 on same and was also chief electrician of harbor mines during Spanish-American War. Electrical engineer under War Department, designing and installing electrical plants, and also on river and harbor improvements, 1899-1903. Electrical engineer United States Reclamation Service, 1903-1909.

      Construction engineering, chiefly hydro-electric power and pumping plants for irrigation, Denver, 1909-1911, and reclamation of Louisiana marsh lands by drainage, 1911-1914, office, Chicago. Constructing and operating irrigation systems and deep well pumping plants, Arizona, 1915-1916. Manager Yolo Water & Power Company, Woodland, California, 1917.

      Hydrographic studies, Sacramento River basin, 1918-1919. Consulting engineer, irrigation and hydro-electric projects, San Francisco, 1920-1923. Chief engineer, Modesto (California) Irrigation District, 1923-1925.

      Senior inspector East Bay Municipal Utility District, 1925-1939. Electrical and mechanic inspr. Possum Kingdom Dam and Power House, Brazos River Conservation and Reclamation District, 1939-1940.
