With Norfolk & Western Railway Company, since 1901, successively draftsman, chief draftsman to engineer of branch lines, assistant engineer with engineer branch lines, 1903-1912, assistant engineer maintenance and construction, 1912-1916, assistant engineer assigned to office of chief engineer on special maintenance of way matters, etc., 1916-1922, principal assistant engineer, 1922, acting chief engineer, 1923, chief engineer, 1924-1949, retired In charge of extensive tide-water improvements at Norfolk, Virginia, 1912-1915, and improvements calling for large expenditures annually from 1925. Director First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Roanoke.
