    • Employed by coal companies in operating and sales departs., Knoxville and Creston, Iowa, 1903-1906. Associated with brothers Frank and L. E. in oil business at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 1906-1914. Individual oil producer, refiner, and marketer 1914-1925 in mid-continent area with Tulsa, Oklahoma, headquarters.

      Sold business, 1925; then became owner and operator of city real estate, ranch properties, and chief executive of Independent Oil & Gas Company, and First National Bank & Trust Company, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Retired from active business about 1945. Donor of welfare projects: Philtower Building at Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Philmont Ranch at Cimarron, New Mexico, to Boy Scouts of America.

      Philbrook Art Center and Beacon Building to Southwestern Art Association. Petroleum Engineering Building and endowment to University of Tulsa. Community Welfare Center.

      Children’s Home; Building and x-ray equipment to St. John’s Hospital. Junior League Building in support of crippled children, Tulsa, Oklahoma. And other welfare instns.

      Elected to Oklahoma Hall of Fame, 1943.
