    • Graduated from Yale, 1728.

    Career

    • Member His Majesty’s Council for Province of New Jersey, 1751-1774. A leading lawyer of New Jersey and New York. Appointed delegate to Stamp Act Congress, 1765, disagreed with its recommendations.

      The American Association For Justice New Jersey Supreme Court, 1772-1776, deprived of position because of Loyalist leanings, escaped to New York. Property confiscated by rebels. Member Board Refugees, New York City.

      Went to England, 1783, returned to American 1790.
